Welcome to Year 2! 

We are really excited for the year ahead and all of the adventures to come!

This half term our topic is Wolves. In English we will be focusing on the traditional story of Little Red Riding as well as alternative versions of the tale. We will be using adjectives to describe the wolf to create a wanted poster and then focus on using these to write a character description and a setting description.

In maths our first unit of work is number and place value. We will focus on developing recognition of the number of tens and ones in numbers up to 100. We will be revisiting number bonds to 10 and develop our knowledge of addition and subtraction through learning number bonds to 20. We will then apply these skills in the context of measures, including money.

In science we will be starting our longitudinal study this week looking at how the weather changes through the seasons, as well as learning about the different habitats in our school grounds and in the local area. 

Our focus within Geography this half term is to identify human and physical features in the local area as well as exploring maps and the symbols used.
