Year 2 River Walk
Year 2 River Walk
Year 2 have visited Rooksbury Mill this week with Tracy and Leah from Wessex water to build on their learning from last week about rivers and the creatures which live there. We investigated chalk with water to see first-hand what happened when it was placed in water. They discovered that air came out from the sample and the chalk absorbed water and the effect this has on the water. Did you know chalk was made up of lots of dead creatures!!
The children had samples of different creatures from the lake and river to classify and observe then the excitement mounted when we all had the opportunity to try pond dipping to find which creatures lived in the local river and lake. Finally we drew or wrote our own river pledge for how to look after our environment. Great fun was had by all!
