Year 2 river study
An exciting day in Year 2 with a visit from Tracy from the Wessex River Trust
.
The day started with Tracy explaining all the different features of a river and what creatures live along it. The children then had great fun creating their own river and learnt how to look after the river and conserve water. The children then found out about what creatures live in the river and were able to look at them through a microscope to classify them. They each had a chart to match the creature’s physical appearance to find out their name and facts about them. To finish the session they went outside to learn how to stay safe by a river and to use throw bags to rescue someone in the river.
