Meeting Alison
Today the whole school were lucky enough to meet Alison from a charity called Just Different. Alison was born with short arms and is proud to be different!
During this workshop she gave the children an insight into her day to day life including how she cleans the house and weeds the garden using her feet. Alison demonstrated how she tackles a number of tasks such as picking objects off the floor and writing her name. The session was concluded by the children asking her a range of questions, which she enjoyed answering.
The children learnt that everyone is special because they are all different!
There was a lovely buzz around the school and comments included:
"What an amazing women she is!"
"I liked it when she showed us how to write with her toes, I want to try that."
"I'm really impressed with you."
The whole school were asked to try and complete a challenge....experiment with picking a range of objects up off the floor and placing them onto a chair. Please have a go at home and let your class teacher know how you got on.
