We gasped and shrieked at the spectacle of our houses going up in flames!
Monday 23rd November at 11 o'clock we set fire to our houses and watched them burn to experience and better understand the events of the Fire of London. The real Fire of London took place in 1666 after a very hot dry Summer. It was very different weather for us on Monday. It was cold and frosty but the flames took hold of our little houses very quickly and demonstrated clearly how the fire spread long ago in London. Luckily we had two firemen and a fire truck standing by to put out the fire and clear the ashes away afterwards.
The children were very excited and gasped at the height and speed at which the flames spread. There was an impressive amount of smoke and some ashes floating in the air to add to the drama!
